Dislocated shoulder and a snowmobile ride.

I was skiing today in Lermoos, Austria (I suggest a trip there, it is an amazing place). I skied on some of the most difficult off piste slopes, we decided to do a run on the nursery slope fir a laugh. I dislocated my shoulder and got a ride on a snowmobile. Luckily my 11 y/o step half step uncle was there to translate to the medics. It was all very exciting. I have never done anything worse than a sprain. Just thought I would tell you guys because it is the first injury I have ever had.

Liam,
I am sure that it hurts, The good news is that at your age you will heal quickly and forget you even had pain shortly. Do what the doctor says and you will be fine.

The doctor doesn't speak English, I leave on Saturday which is unfortunate because there is a PPK waiting to be fired if it heals in time.

Liam,
Shoot the PPK for heavens sake. You only go thru life once...and pain only lasts for a little while.

...any chance you could rotate your picture, I'm afraid your going to fall.

I am allowed to shoot lefty because I am in the sling until Tuesday, I am back in "pistol free" Scotland by then. Lucky we were insured for snow sports or it would have cost €780. I will be working on my knife one handed for a few days I think, lucky I don't use power tools.

It's always good to practice your pistol shooting with your non-Dominate hand.

I guess you may end up being a lefty shooter since there are no pistols in Scotland.

Listen, "If they speak English?" and think the whole process through about Safety, Stance, Grip, Sight lineament and squeezing the trigger. Shoot a firearm accurately, is a process with follow through all the way!

Have fun!

I think I will be a lefty shooter with pistols. It belongs to my stepfather's father who is pretty responsible and we both know how to shoot, I imagine a pistol isn't too far different from a rifle, we will see how it goes.

I have been told by the mother that I will be in a sling for six weeks, apparently the NHS do things different than the Österreiches Rotes Kreuz. If the whole of Austria doesn't act like a complete sissy then I won't either. The NHS also says no sport and stay at home for a while. What is the point of that? I'm rather frustrated, society as a whole has become a bunch of yellow, meat fearing, quorn munching, self pitying, bleeding heart, hoplophobic weaklings who think a dislocated shoulder is some kind of incapacitating injury but real problems are attention seeking. They want to give me months of treatment at the expense of the tax payer which is all well and good considering my family pays taxes, but the amount of treatment is entirely unnecessary. Bloody pussies.

Liam,
LOL Too Funny!
Every industrialized country is going like that! Go ahead and get some of the therapy, It may help you heal?

The Austrians think a week will do and this is a rural community whee everyone does stuff and if they can work after a week then I can too. I am struggling with the boredom after three days so I won't be wearing this any longer than absolutely necessary.

don't over do things too soon, although months of therapy seem a bit much. Keep in mind that after your shoulder has been dislocated once, I will do it again easier.
I have to agree with how people act with injuries nowadays, guess America and Scotland are not so different in some ways.

I am out of the sling now but they said I will need surgery. Luckily the timing is perfect because I will still be able to shoot at a camp I'm going to. Hopefully knife making won't suffer too much but a grinder would be really nice. I can file but it takes ages. I have some kind of fracture and significant soft tissue damage apparently. I just hope I will sill be able to get in the marines.

Liam,
Since you have stated that you wish to serve your country in the marines.
STOP Messing around and let your arm & shoulder HEAL! No filing one handed or any other nonsense!
Only do what the doctors and physical therapists tell you to do or you will blow your chance to get into the royal marines. They don't take people with disabilities. Alright?

I am doing physio until surgery, the doctors said after a few weeks I can get back to usual until the surgery.

Here is an update. The cartilage around my shoulder is ruined and the actual bone is badly damaged. That's about the extent of the information right now. My shoulder will be rattling around in a most unstable manner until I have it chopped to pieces by some kind of surgeon. I'm getting a metal socket or something, which means I will effectively be wolverine. I am getting another chance to shoot a pistol, in Australia of all places though I imagine it will be a single shot 0.22 inch LR or something.

Wolverine is a super hero in the X-Men who has metal bones. They said that I am young enough that after surgery it will be just as strong if not stronger than before. Although it's a very bad dislocation they said I am healing faster than they would expect because the Austrians kept me in a sling for much longer than the NHS would have.

I have been told now that I have surgery in three months then a month after that recovering so it looks like i wont be doing knives for a bit. This is just silly.
