Still need some refining especially in the guard area to make it symmetrical on both sides and the handle will Probably be shortened a touch and the actual handle design will depend on the piece of stag I get. I’ll probably try to ink out the blade a bit to 12 inches as well but this is the general idea. Please let me know any problems you see with the design and your general thoughts. Hang in there is this probably won’t be updated real often till I really get started on it69422

Well let’s see, I haven’t ever done a knife this long, haven’t done san Mai yet but I will do several billets before this project for practice, haven’t ever done a guard like this, haven’t ever worked with wrought ironAnd I got one more trick up my sleeve for this knife that I haven’t ever done but I’m going to keep that up my sleeve for right now. I’ll just move slowly and do the absolute best I can.
 
That's a cool design Daniel. I like your choice of materials. It is ambitious. At least it would be for me.
 
More coming soon I promise. Waiting till it cools off a touch to weld up the billet. Supposed to be 107 F with almost 100% humidity. :confused:
 
107 and high humidity...wow...
It gets above a 100 and I'm done in. And our humidity is generally very low around 12-15%. Though it's been running about 25% lately.

Give me the cold
 
The cold is what we have as we are mid winter but mild cold to some with daytime temps in the 40-50 range in general with occasional drops down into the 15-20 degree overnight. Summer is very rare over the 90,s with general (low humidity) temps in the high 70,s to mid 80's
