Cutting thin pearl and thin ivory wiuth a scroll saw.

I am doing some cutting into thin scales of mammoth ivory and pearl with a scroll saw. I have tried several blade styles but the cutting is going badly with jaming being the worst problem. I would apporeciate help in choosing the right blade for each type of material and told if the speed should be fast or slow. Your knowledgeable help will be much appreciated. Thanks Frank

In the past, I've cut up some thin shell (mop, abalone, etc.) with the finer sizes of Eberle metal cutting scroll saw blades. I think the saw matters a bit. It helps to have a nonagressive verticle blade movement, cranked down to very low speed and a patient feed rate. I picked up the tips from a great marquetry woodworker and it seems to work decent for me.

Just one take on it, good luck, Craig
