Cutting a slot in a handle?

I'm about ready to start on making myself a new set of handles for my Spyderco UKPK.

I'm fairly resigned to the fact that I won't be able to keep the pocket clip as I don't know how I could cut the slots for the clip to engage in, but then I thought I may as well ask you guys if you had any suggestions.

The slots are about 1.5mm wide.

I was thinking maybe a slitting saw 1.5mm thick but the diameter would need to be quite small.
 
You sure that you want to reinstall that pocket clip? I haven't lost a knife since I stopped using them. As a matter of fact, I'd like to find out what kind of wrench I need to remove the things.

Maybe. I find them useful for not cluttering the bottom of my pockets. I've removed them off some knives and feel it improves the grip. The wire clip on the UKPK doesn't cause me much hassle though.
 
I know what you mean about having to fish a knife out of the pocket of your pants but I've reached for my knife one too many times and found the knife dropped out some where. When that happened to a Spiderco Manix that I really liked and I could find where it landed I stopped using the clip. Digging a knife out of my pocket is nothing like reaching for it and finding that it is gone.

Use a dremel and a cutoff wheel. Wear it down on a piece of junk steel until its the right diameter and slot away. A steady hand would be a good thing to have.

I know what you mean Doug I hiked into a high lake last year maybe 3 or 4 miles blew my raft up put everything inside went to slide in forgot I had my knife in my back pocket next think I heard was a whoosh and my butt was in the water. The clip had a sharp edge and it caught hot vinyl and down I went.
