Creating "movement" in suminagashi, without a forge?

Okay here goes nothing on what I think is probably a dumb newbie question but I wanted to check here before writing this off.

I'd like to try out some Takefu suminagashi, but I was hoping to find a way to create some movement in the clad layers instead of simply having the linear lines. But I don't have a forge, and I can't set up a forge in my shop.

Is the answer as simple as, it can't be done, move on. Or is there some other way to add some movement without having to heat it and beat it?

Thanks,

Zach

Move on. Without a forge, and more importantly, the knowledge to forge the material correctly, it would likely be a train wreck....and would most likely wreck the steel (cold shuts, cracks, etc.)

Thanks, I figured that was the answer but wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing something obvious.

Appreciate the response,
