CPM 4V is a powder metallurgy steel. It offers very good toughness with excellent edge holding ability. Here is the heat treat process that Crucible reccomends for the best combination of toughness and edge holding.
1. Heat to 1500-1550F and equalize.
2. Heat to 1875-1950F and soak for 30 minutes.
3. Quench in air, pressurized gas, salt, or oil.
4. Temper twice for 2 hours each cycle between 1000 & 1100F.

Anyone who has actually used this steel or tried different heat treat processes feel free to post any info. you feel worth mentioning.
