color case hardening

I'm thinking about doing some case hardening for the color. Anybody ever try it? I'm a little concerned about what the charcoal will do to the elements in my kiln.
 
It can look terrific, Brad. I knew someone who built a sharps and did the receiver in the case hardened colors. Sorry, I don't have a contact with him
now. Frank
 
Since the box used to heat the piece for color case hardening should be sealed there should be no problems affecting the coils..
