A friend asked me to “fix” this clever for him in trade for some woodworking he is doing for me on a present for my wife. Thought I would post progress.
This is what he gave me.

Think I will go outside the box on this one and do a 600 grit satin finish and dovetail bolster handle. I have not seen those on many clevers.
 
Decided to do Wenge scales with black linen micarta bolsters and blue G-10 liners. Got everything ground to 30 degrees (I found a disc sander, Ed no more 45 degrees dovetail bolsters) and ready to be glued to the liners.

Scales are ready. I think I did the dovetails backwards...or does it matter?
