I need to post a bit more often in this forum - it's always been my favorite because of the GREAT sponsor and folks who share their knowledge.
Since most of us are interested in a NEMA 4X (IP66) rated VFD at a decent price I thought I'd posted about my experience with the above IP66 rated VFD for $102 shipped, tariff, shipping and all.
I did order the IP66 rated VFD Alibaba.
I got the VFD delivered this week, been playing with the parameters a bit and I think I've got all that's required working - thanks to help from the vendor's tech support engineer. Alibaba's support got me in touch with the tech engineer. The paper manual sent with the drive is tiny print, and not the best at explaining things. I had most of the parameters figured out correctly, but the tech engineer explained a couple I wasn't sure about.
today I got it wired up (just laying on grinder) and tested on grinder - seems to be working pretty good. An interesting point, When the front panel controls are selected via parameter, only the RUN & STOP buttons work. the selector switch that says "FWR-STOP-REV" don't work. Not sure how to make it run in reverse that way. BUT, setting parameter so the selector switch works, the RUN & STOP buttons don't work.
The unit sure is sealed good - it could be dunked in water without damage.
By setting parameters as below:
F8-03 to 65 hz this allows the motor to overspeed to 3900 RPM range.
F8-04 to 5,000 this allows the motor RPM to be displayed as 5,000 which relates to 65 hz max motor speed. I checked at 300 rpm, 1800 rpm, and 3500 rpm and the displayed 'rpm" was close enough to the calculated SFPM belt speed. SFPM is what I always have displayed on my 2X72 grinders rather than freq.
F6-02 set to "1" causes the motor "rpm" (in this case SFPM) to be displayed all the time in the small bottom line on the LED display. The default setting was to display amps (A).
I'm starting to get a handle on this VFD and got it doing what I want.... I think {g}. Now if it will just work without failure for a few yrs. If so, then this seems to be a great value for the price, around total (tariff) $102 shipped.
