Charities that accept knives?

Are there any nationwide places or charitable organizations that like to get custom knives for auctions? Now that KITH is over I need a few more reasons to make a knife.

Good question. I'll tag along. I don't know of any nationwide. I've heard of a number of knifemakers giving a knife to a local charity or their church to auction off.

You can also find someone in your community that needs help. House fire, medical bills, ect.. and do a FaceBook auction. Donate the proceeds to them.

Wounded Warrior Project may take them as a donation.

It's an excellent charity that helps our military members.

I made a knife for a charity auction for the local "chapter" (not sure what else to call it but chapter seems close enough). The company I work for is involved with them and they were happy to have it.

They also had guns up for auction and considering the nature of the charity, I think they're gun and knife friendly. Although I can only speak for the local branch of the charity I donated to.

All of the hunting sports and gun groups like knife donations. I donate to NRA, Safari Club and Rocky Mountain Elk. Others are Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Wild Turkey Foundation. There are many more.

Any fundraiser loves to have items like that to raffle off. Because it's for a fundraiser people tend to get very generous.

A lovely idea and generous.

I just wish that here in the UK charities would accept knives.

You would not believe the verbal I got from offering the best known UK military charity a knife in the colours they choose to use.

I was told by them I was making knives illegally, by some bone head ex army warrant officer who explained he was ex army so knew all about knives. Well being ex forces myself I tore him to shreds and told him where to go ;)

I was then told I couldn't make a knife with the colours red , dark blue or light blue, as they choose to use those colours for the charity. I was also told that no one was allowed to use those colours...…..hard to believe I know. Hmmm so they own the rights to those colours, I think not.

In the end I was so fed up I complained to the highest levels or the charity and told a knife is not the image the charity is looking for as violent!

Hence I did a quick search of the charity directors...……......….. they are doing very well indeed and getting paid one hell of an amount of cash.

This is the utter crap we have to deal with here in the UK .

That's crazy over there Iza. it's kind of like that in some locations over here in the states but as for where I live, Florida, I've been donating knives to the local Safari Club chapter for over twenty years. they raffle off guns and I've one a few. nowadays you have to pick them up at a gun shop but years ago they let you take them home at the end of the night. :D

It is a sign of the times here I am afraid due to the knife violence that is on the increase here. So the easy solution is to blame the knife as opposed to targeting the offenders.

There was a knife amnesty sometime back and the authorities were claiming they had removed bins full of dangerous weapons off the streets but in reality they were just rusty old kitchen/ butter knives dropped in by people emptying there kitchen drawers with the odd old rusty bayonet thrown in.

All done to 'massage' the statistics as hardly 'removed' from the street ,whilst the bad guys still carry them.

Where are you in Florida? my uncle is Sarasota and keeps asking me to visit him....maybe one day I will.

It may not be as noble, but I donate to several different conservation organizations, mostly Waterfowl oriented but I also do some military rehab groups too. I like to donate there because they seem to be appreciated, and they seem to generate good money. Also those organizations tend to run on the least amount of money, so most of it goes to the cause.
