Centurion Friction Folder and Liner Lock

Then centurion was an officer in the Roman army, and in charge of 100 men. It was also a British battle tank, built in 1945, it became one of the most widely used battle tanks in history. Both us and the Israeli's have done several modifications and upgrades to the initial design, specifically in aiming systems and engines, as well as secondary armor, resulting in the Centurion (over here named the "Olifant" or Elephant) still being in service almost 70 years after inception.

I named this model with the tank in mind - it is quite big itself....:)

First up, a couple of Friction folders - Blade is hollow ground from 1/4" thick N690 stainless steel, satin finished. One has 1/8th black micarta slabs over 1/25th 304 stainless liners, 304 stainless pivot and pins, tigerstripe micarta standoof. Scales on the other one is profiled Wenge hardwood. The blade is 3 and 1/8th long in total with a cutting edge of 2 3/4 ". Width is just over half an inch at 0.57" or 5/7th (14.6mm) which makes it about 1/6th wider than my UKPK - alongside which it was photographed in a few instances.

The above friction folders, although large, are UK Legal EDC with cutting edges of just under 3". On the liner lock I used a longer blade - as locking knives are in any case not legal EDC in some places, there is no point in sticking to a 3" blade:

The result is shown in the pics below. Specifications:

Blade is from 1/4 thick N690, liners are from Ti, scales are 1/4" profiled G10 Micarta, pivot and pins are stainless steel. Thumbdisc is anodized Ti. Blade is 3/5", OAL open is 8.4"m, width at the widest point is 3/4". It is a big knife, but it sits comfortably in hand and it surprised me by weighing in at "only" 8 ounces....It is shown next to the iconic Buck 110 for scale in some of the pics...

Thanks for looking :D

Thank you George - I have to admit I made the liner lock as an "experiment" - I was not at all sure how it would be received, simply due to the sheer size of it, but it would seems to have pressed the right buttons for quite a few guys. Not everyone's cup of tea, but more widely accepted than I'd thought would be the case.
