TJ the architecural brass 385 is actually classified as a bronze by most suppliers. I'm make some guards out of it now. it works very easily and has a great color...not at all brassy...very golden looking.

Supposedly any of the bronze/brass/copper family solder nicely. I have not tried this as I am epoxying my guards on the blade and handle after drawing tight with a screw...(epoxy, assemble, tighten screw...)
