Bolster pin issues

I spent the better part of the entire day finishing up this knife, just to have the pins show through the bolster at then polishing stage. My best guess is 2 different series of brass? I’ve never had this issue before, but I want to get it figured out before I cut these pins out and redo them.

My guess is that they're two different alloys. One has more copper, less zinc? Not sure. If they're showing as contrasting colors after polishing, I don't imagine there's much you can do. Either call it a "feature" or replace the pins.

My guess is two seperate/different colors of brass. If you are not in a hurry - let them set a few days. I have had them change/blend a wee bit better after a tarnish gets started.

I wonder how the bolster would look with a satin/scotchbrite finish........could give that a try before replacing
