greetings dogs
it occured to me recently that i never have formally introduced myself - when i first began surfing this site, i was merely seeking knifemaking info for the purpose of making ONE knife for myself. i had no intention of becoming involved in an online "family" of bladesmiths and knifemakers. after i finished my knife (i used a lawnmower blade) i couldn't shake the pull. i suddenly had a need to make knives ! so i jumped in with both feet and began soaking up knowledge so readily provided by you guys. anyway so now i wake every morning with one thing on my mind - the same thing that was on my mind when i fell asleep ! i'm now posting photos and you guys don't even know who i am !
here it is - "victoroni" is my wife's pet name for me - i know, kinda goofy, but what does a guy do ? just go with it ! i was born in 1951 in tampa, fl. graduated from h.b. plant high then proceeded to flunk out of forest ranger school because i failed calculus (very rigid school) . anyway, ( you ain't gonna get a full life story ) my father was a registered graduate engineer and i had some college-level drafting so we started a small engineering firm in tampa and before long our little firm grew into a well-known firm. that ride lasted 26 years - we then all retired and here i am in fanning springs, florida - oh yeah, somewhere along the way i managed to pick up a chick name jennie in a honky tonk bar and we been married 31 years ! for now i am focused on simple 3-piece knives and maybe at some point i try a hidden tang ? its all stock removal - can't forge, i have a bad right shoulder and can't swing heavy hammers.
anyway so once again i want to emphasize my gratitude to all of you for providing such a vast ocean of knowledge. i learn something just about every day !!
