Bainitic-Martensitic duplex structure in 52100

There has been so much discussion on the usefulness/or not of bainitic hardened blades - no need to start this again.
I prefer my blades fully martensitic and if I need more toughness/flex I differentially temper the spine.

But I found this interesting article on the comparison of various bainitic-martensitic treatments and wanted to share it for those who are interested. The duplex treatment showed enhanced properties compared to the other treatments but I am not sure if this could be directly translated to knives. I guess there is some gain and if you are already playing with marquenching the article gives you some Data and treatment temps and such to start with. Treatment times are much shorter than for full bainite conversion.
Maybe someone else can explain the results of the fracture diagramm better than I could do it.

you find it here

Best regards
