Anyone ever make a bayonet?

A buddy of mine has asked me to make him a bayonet for his M4.

If anyone has done one before, I'd sure appreciate any tips on the subject. The locking/release mechanism in particular.

I don't know anyone who had tried it. The first thaought that comes to mind when trying to negotiate the locking mechanism is to find an old beat up Vietnam era bayonet or an inexpensive reproduction like this one.

I'd check and make sure the locking mechanism works properly with the given weapon and then reproduce the mechanism.

Like I said, I've never done it, but it would be a technique.

Whoa, that thing is sweet looking James!
So is the lock attatched like a regular pommel? Can't quite tell from the pics. I think I have an old M7 bayo around somewhere, I'll have to dig around tonight and see if I can find it.

Hey Wade, since I used 440c I threaded the end of the tang and used a stainless button head bolt, just big enough to cover the hole in the lock.
