Please don't use Hoppes. It's very corrosive on brass and copper. Here's a brush I use to clean the extractor tunnel on 1911's. As you can see the hoppes has eaten away at the bronze. It will do the same thing to a brass jag.

Ty, is that the old Hoppes with or the new stuff they are making now?

Paul I was unaware of a change in hoppes. That brush is 18 months old. It was purchased at the same time as the last bottle.

I was referring to Hoppes gun 'oil' not Hoppes #9 gun cleaner.

Hey Ty, I guess I should have said their Elite gun cleaner product. It doesn't contain any petroleum based ingredients and doesn't have the Hoppes smell, (which I think smells good).

Sorry for me getting confused guys. Hoppes #9 is all I use for cleaning. I haven't used any gun oil in 15 years. Synthetic motor in different viscosity depending on weather is all I use.

Hoppes does smell good. My wife shoots quite a bit and likes it when I clean guns.
