A little more leatherwork this morning

To get them ready for these knives that just need thier final sharpening before shipping. I tried a couple of different backgrounds for the pics this time. All blades are either 1075 or 1084

A safari knife with walnut and brass. The walnut was from the buyers rifle stock blank to be a companion piece for a new rifle.

A new design that is a longer and wider boning knife as a EDC in consultation with NZ client so has rimu scales

And the last one is an AH big game hunter with blackwood and buff horn.

 
I guess 50 years + of using knives and a lessor amount of time making them for myself has made me very aware of design and my standards are set by what my father would have said if he had seen this or any of these knives.
 
Yep....Dad's always in our head...lol!! We used to joke about our father's critiques of our projects (6 boys in the family)..." Teddy....that's pretty good....BUT...." LOL...(He was a super craftsman)
How I miss him....

I LOVE that little LH EDC! Very cool knife. All are nice as always...
 
Dad was an exceptional craftsman and I grew up with his mantra that "the ability to do comes with doing" as a way to encourage us to try anyting and everything in the realms of "making things" so there was numerous little projects always going on.
Like you I miss him a great deal but with him in my heart and head he is always with me for advise in my memories.


The little EDC is one I do in batches of 10 at a time and is a handly little knife although for myself I prefer the very slightly larger knife with my own light hunter being about right size for multiple chores

It has dealt to a number of goats and is my go to knife for the hill where its 3 1/2 x7/8 of 1/8 1084 is just the right size for about anything I need till I get back to the truck for skinning and breaking down where another couple of knives coome into play. Looking good with the laminated end grain olivewood and buff horn dosent hurt it either.
This is the skinning knife I made for myself about 20 years ago from my great grandfathers scrub slasher. A 4 3/8 x 1in x5/32 blade with nickle silver and african blackwood. It has skinned a lot of animals over the years and is a very directable blade for its purpose. Enough belly to skin well and just enough nose to facilitate opening up legs etc without having to push the blade as needs to be done with the more nessmuk styled knives where they have the belly comming off the bulbous nose at near 40 degrees.
