2 speed buffer?

Hi again guys. I need some advice on buffers. From reading the forum, it seems like there are two camps as for as buffers go - 1,800 RMP vs. 3,600 RPM.

Keep in mind the diameter of the wheel also matters. A 3600RPM buffer with a 10" wheel is really, really fast.
We have a two speed here and we can't use the fast speed as it just goes too fast to be safe.
1800rpm with 8" wheels will work just fine for knife making. That doesn't mean a 3600 won't do just as well and with some experience they can be a good choice but I think you'll find the majority of buffers for an 8 or 10" wheel are 1800rpm for a reason.
