Question. I saw a post on here from a while back or gentleman had upgraded his hand filing Jig From Allwood to made out of metal. I’m looking for him

That's an old picture of my filing jig. It has evolved a little more since then.I don't have any plans or drawings as it was cobbled together using parts from the scrap bin at work.I can take measurements if required. All sizes need to be taken in relation to file length.

    Utility with Filework.

Thank you kindly Sir! After ten years of using bevel filing jigs I feel I'm finally getting close to the finish I seek. The filework just takes a bit of practise but it is always risky.

    Utility with Filework.

Thanks for your kind words guys. Very much appreciated. The jig has been developing over the years to what you see now. As I try to improve the quality of my knives the jig developed to overcome the problems I encountered. I'm pretty happy with it's performance so far.

    Fishing Companion

Thank you. I'm a life-long fisherman. I've made several rigs over the years. I like the way they hang around the back out of the way and don't pull my trousers down. This rig gives me options to take only the tools I think I will need.

    Carbon fiber and jade ghost

I've used jade G10 a couple of times myself and it does look better with black liners. Gives the jade a deeper lustre. White liners make it look more like plastic. I'm re-handling an Estwing axe at present with jade G10 and black rubber spacers. I hope it turns out half as nice as the handle on...

    Bevel Filing Jig

I modified a couple of terminal clamps to attach the files. Solid brass. There is an M8 socket head bolt running the length of the handle as well.

    Bevel Filing Jig

I do all my bevels with files. The round file first to cut the plunges then a large flat file does the rest. It is mounted to the round bar. This allows it to track along the blade and round the curve evenly.
