    Scotch bright belts are great for blending scratch patternsno don't use them on blades, but I do a lot of my handles. Some more stuff.. Working on my recurves.. Oddly enough,i find them easier to grind on my 2" wide wheel vs my 1" wide wheel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Cool machine.., i have the same one. the round column is'nt that bad, and if cuts are not to deep i can machine anything on it. great for a knifemaker!

    How long does hand sanding take you?

    I spend 20 minutes hand sanding! i grind to a-30 ( 600 grit) then move to an 800 grit worn cork belt loaded with green rouge. this will almost take the blade to a mirror finish while leaving your bevels crisp between them and the flats. i generally start sanding at 320 grit and have all my grind...

    Got it all set up, shimmed and rockin!! i used roughly .070" worth of thims to even it out as best i could i assume after a little pressure is applied it'll even right out. only off by maybe .005". i'll post pics in a few!

    Ok, so before i pull the trigger and order a $120 vise.., so you guys are saying that it's not big deal that the jaws aren't flat??? as i said, in the description it states that one jaw is on a slant and that it straightens when pressure is applied. so you's dont think that this will effect even...

    Les, this is what it written in the description: Moving jaw has slight inward slant that straightens as pressure is applied so i assume they dont perfectly mate until a good bit of pressure is applied??? Tod: i heat all three together with a 30 min soak, after 10 minutes i pull one out...

    I generally do 3 at a time, but i quench separatly. so i can cut mine to be 11" x 4" x 1.5" thick.
