Recently completed B&T. Nicholson file with lightly scorched curly birch. 1/8 brass. I know a lot of guys frown on files because of the lack of pos-ID on the steel but I have had very good results with the Nicholson brand. (With a lot of failures). Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

What's your heat treat process?? I use a lot of Nicholson files for knives myself. Very cool!!

Did the exact same thing with a set of exhibition walnut scales. The kind of scales that were selected specifically for a pattern that flowed absolutely perfectly with the blade profile. I was sick to my stomach brother. I feel ya!!

Buffing a blade us easily the most dangerous step in the shop. I can't stand it. I quit buffing blades altogether. I do handles, pommels, guards and the like....but anyway, I use a 1 horse myself..... But for god sakes be careful! That thing will send you to the hospital in a heartbeat!!!

Thanks! I love my deer season but a few big bushtails in the crock pot is mighty tasty! I thought would be a neat change rather than hawk or owl feathers.
