    Here's one I just finished. Hollow ground with a 14" wheel, 1095 with copper and black palm. 59 rockwell. It has a thin slicey edge, and a little engraving on the spine.

    That's right, a dirty wet slobery tennis ball is just like 120 grit sand paper on their teeth. You can get good rubber dog balls at the pet store or on ebay.

    You can use fingernail polish, cover the area you want to protect, then use fingernail polish remover or acetone to remove it.

    Etching with Ferric for hamon?

    When you etch it will pretty much turn all black, then you will lightly hand sand the gunk off it until you get the hammond to pop out.
