Well, I am going to experiment with it with 4-5 blades after I get through with what I am working on now.

I have removed guards and scales by submerging the tang end in boiling water just deep enough to cover the guard area, for 20 minutes.

Thanks for the info fellas. I noticed that the price for the 35VN is cheaper from Niagara than the 154 is, at least if I understood the price correctlyl.

I use CPM154 but have no experience with CPMS35VN. How does the S35 grind compared to 154? How about finishing, harder or about the same? Thanks

Another individual had suggested a spindle sander for this. I purchased one and either I have not got the hang of it yet, or it will not completly eliminate the ripples. Close but not quite.

Hi Ed, sorry I could not make SA this time. This was on two small knives that were made last year. I guess it is possible that the scales I go were not cured good enough. The scales shrank a little on both but they shrank more in width than they did in length.

Has anyone here had a problem with Cocobolo scales shrinking after being put on a knife?
