    Cpms35vn

Today is the first time I have ground on any CPM35VN and I was surprised how easy this stuff grinds. While I was profiling some blades, a friend stopped by and wanted to know what type of metal I was using. Then he started wanting to know how does it compare to D2 and CPM154 on edge retention...

    Bandsaw blades

Thanks for the replies. I have been returning the blades as defective and they send them to be rewelded. Most of the blades that break, if it does not do it at first, developes a "thump" as the splice area goes throught the cut. Many times this is due to a tooth that was missing at the very...

    Bandsaw blades

I would like to know where the makers who use 641/2" bandsaws get your blades. I have been getting them from a local supplier and have been having problems with them breaking in the splice. It appears that whoever is making them is ruining the temper in the splice area. The blade material is...

Well, I am going to experiment with it with 4-5 blades after I get through with what I am working on now.

    CPMS35VN vs CPM154CM

Thanks for the info fellas. I noticed that the price for the 35VN is cheaper from Niagara than the 154 is, at least if I understood the price correctlyl.

    CPMS35VN vs CPM154CM

I use CPM154 but have no experience with CPMS35VN. How does the S35 grind compared to 154? How about finishing, harder or about the same? Thanks

    Last three

These are the last three for 2010. The first one has a 33/8" blade of CPM154, OAL 8", and dark brown bone scales. The second one a 33/16 blade of CPM154, OAL 79/16", and stabilized Maple Burl scales. The third one has a 33/4" blade of CPM154, OAL 83/4", and a Honduran Rosewood handle...

    Water Buffalo Horn

A customer brought me a set of water buffalo horn scales that he wants me to put on a blade that I ground for him. I know about temperature when using this stuff, but one of these peices is warped a little and if I have to grind it flat, it will then be odd shaped. The scales are 3/16" thick. Is...

    small wheel attachment

Another individual had suggested a spindle sander for this. I purchased one and either I have not got the hang of it yet, or it will not completly eliminate the ripples. Close but not quite.

    small wheel attachment

Robert, this may sound like a stupid question, but are you using a round file, like a chain saw file?

    Fossil

I have been seeing a lot of Fossil scales for sale on ebay lately. I have never used any, how is it to work with? Any thing to watch for to keep from messing up with it? Thanks

    Angle device

Awhile back I saw where someone posted a picture of a device that could be clamped on a blade and used to determine the angle of grinding. It had a bubble on it like a level. I do not remember which forum I saw this on. Does anyone here remember seeing this and how to contact the individual or...

    Cocobolo Shrinkage

Hi Ed, sorry I could not make SA this time. This was on two small knives that were made last year. I guess it is possible that the scales I go were not cured good enough. The scales shrank a little on both but they shrank more in width than they did in length.
