Official Summer 2013 KnifeDogs Knife in the Hat Thread

I like the design! I know a lot of makers like to see the tang about 3/4 the length of the handle if possible. Having it a little wider wouldn't hurt anything either. That being said, as long as everything is tight and solid, it should hold up just fine.

Greg and Derek have been added! Jason - I'm looking forward to what you come up with! I enjoy hidden tangs, but it has been quite a while since I have made one. They are a lot of fun when everything goes right. I still haven't decided what I'm going to do for mine. I have a few ideas and a...

Mike- No problem. I'm also hoping everything goes well. Honestly, if these aren't fun and a good experience for EVERYONE, there really isn't any point in doing them. Patrick - You've been added! George - Congrats to your daughters (and to your bank account)! I'm looking forward to seeing...

Official Summer 2013 KnifeDogs Knife in the Hat Thread

Been kind of quiet in here the past few days... How's everyone doing? Has anybody started their KITH knife yet? I do want to encourage people to spread the word and see if wee can get more makers involved. It has come to my attention that there was an issue with a knife not being received...

Frank, Not that my opinions carry much weight but, for what it's worth, I always point people to this thread when questions of hand finishing arise. I've used Mobil 1 on every knife since I read your tips here.

Official Summer 2013 KnifeDogs Knife in the Hat Thread

OK Folks, This is the Official 2013 KITH Thread. While many said July would be ok even though we are getting a late start, I thought August 5th would be a good deadline if there aren't any objections. This gives everyone a little extra time while still keeping us in the ballpark. Here are...

    Summer KITH?

Well, it looks like Sean's inbox is full... Why don't we see if there is enough interest to get this going though... just reply here if you are interested in participating. While we've done it in July previously, I think that would probably be too little time given our late start. Let's say...

VERY nice, Sam! I picture a Ron Best style full integral personally :) . Have you found that file yet? I was looking for one a while back to give .25"/4 lpi for handle materials, but gave up.

    Summer KITH?

I haven't seen any mention of a Christmas in July KITH as we've done the past few years. Did I miss the thread, or hasn't there been any interest?
