The article I am currently writing for Blade Magazine deals with knife rust and how to prevent it. I would like your input on your experiences on what has worked best for you in preventing rust or dealing with it if your knife has rusted. Any input would be appreciated. Mike

I have one of those Western Bowies in my collection too along with a Case Bowie and several others. I like the Musso modern Bowie style. The real thing is just not very sexy. I am making a couple authentic reproductions just for the fun of it but I do prefer the guards and clip points.

Maybe going forward we could open the 2011 thread early and leave it open all year. That way people could make nominations as they see them rather than going back through all of the post at the end of the year.

I see no reason why knives/knifemakers couldn't be self-nominated or nominated by others.

I would suggest those nominating a knife locate the pictures of the knives they wish to nominate and submit a link to the original thread or copy the picture. That puts the job on the readers who wish to nominate a knife or knifemaker. When it comes time to vote it would certainly be good to...

440C is high carbon and it can definitely be shaving sharp.

I agree that it will be difficult to go back through all of the posts from the past year and locate all of the pictures posted in numerous sub-forums. Maybe all of the pictures of nominated knives can be copied and posted in one thread or galley?

The really stupid part is that all of the spam is trying to sell something as if anyone is really going to do business with them or anybody who uses spammers to advertise their crap.

KD is not alone. A lot of forums are getting hammered by spammers. I guess they came up with a new program that gets around security. Banning often doesn't help because they just come back with a different name, email and IP address. I administer another forum and have to delete bogus spam...
