    North Texas Knife Makers

After last weekend's show, I'm convinced that we have enough makers in the DFW area to start up a club of some sort. After speaking to a few other makers, we've got a basic blog going to try and gauge interest. Ideally we'd like to have a monthly get-together. Anyway, if you're a maker in the...

    A Few Razors

Thanks laurence. Those are ground on a 2" contact wheel. Quite the pain in the rear to get perfectly centered and symmetrical but its quite rewarding.

    Wa handle dimensions?

+1 on John's advice. Don't be afraid to thin out the tang into a rat tail.

    Wa handle dimensions?

Fred, the sizes are pretty standard. The majority of wa handles on J knives are mass produced. If you get your knife specs up I have a few dozen factory handles from jobs past that I use for reference.

    CPM D2 Heat treating

Anthony, I did a few in CPM D2 a while ago and they came out better than I'd expected. I forget who but someone suggested THIS heat treatment for the it. As for tempering, I tempered at 400 as I've read that the higher temper causes a loss of toughness and corrosion resistance.

    Band Saw

After killing another Harbor Freight bandsaw, I'm again looking for a better saw. Ideally an AMERICAN MADE bandsaw would be best but it must have a moderate footprint. The small 44 7/8 portable band saws are great but I would not be opposed to something like the larger 4x6 from HF. Thank you...

So why not spin ther pins?

Thanks guys. Though I've done a BIT of grinding over the years, traditional pocket knives are still very foreign to me. :D Darrin: Did you find any use for that X-Mas exchange material? :)

So why not spin ther pins?

Would you gents mind posting a picture of what a spun head looks like??? I'm afraid I'm too green to find a reference in memory for this term. :D
