Well, I had to start somewhere.

Thanks guys. My old head still hurts from trying to figure everything out. I found that you have to constantly think about 3 steps ahead of what you are doing. I had fun and may try another soon. Robert

Well, I had to start somewhere.

I have made only fixed blades, but I thought I would try my hand at a slip joint. Only thing I really had to go by was a small photo of a kit slip joint in a catalog. This is actually my second attempt. My first came out fair, but this one is a little better. I still have a long way to go...

Smoke and prayes for our friends and fellow knifemakers down south.

Glad to see that my Alabama friends made it through the storms. The death toll continues to rise, and it is not over yet. There are so many still missing. This kind of event touches so many in different ways. I was fortunate. Within hours I received an email from fellow knifemakers (Twin...

    Not your Grandma's Kitchen Knife

I was recently asked by a customer to re-handle an old carbon steel butcher knife that had belonged his grandmother. I did the job and he was very happy. I couldn't get that blade shape off my mind, so I decided to make one of my own, except with a little different twist. This one is forged...

    small wheel attachment

No, I use a flat "mill" file and start draw filing the bumps/humps from the curve toward the rear of the handle. If you don't get these bump/humps out to start with, as you proceed through the finer grits, your belt will only follow those bump/humps and make them worse. Hope this helps, Robert
