new software HERE for KnifeDogs....Tapatalk going away

Well, I like it better than I thought I would. It does not seem much different from the old forum. It did drop the picture of Moe, the Official Shop Dog. I just noticed that it dropped Tracy Boss Dog's picture so I figure that will get taken care of soon.

    KMG motors?

Baldor are very expensive motors. I sell the TechTop cast aluminum 3 phase motors. TechTop makes the motors that Baldor sells for the European market. Check out the Motors and VFD page on my web-site. On my grinders page you can look into getting my DVD and build your own grinder and save a...

Anybody else have these LP company problems

Yup Ed, just wait until Airgas comes to your neighborhood. That was who I had my problems with. Fellas, Maybe, just maybe if we make enough noise they will start to pay attention to us. I used to haul my tanks from north Tennessee to Atlanta just because I was going to Atlanta that weekend...

Anybody else have these LP company problems

Yup, I had been using the same locally owned company for about 15 years. I have a number of 100# bottles that I would take to them for refill. Great guys. Then they were bought out. Suddenly they no longer filled there, the tanks would have to be sent off but they would exchange for me. I...

    New forge !

Luke, I used the quick connect because I carried my forge to conferences. They do have a tendency to leak If you decide to use one be sure and get the ones made for flammable gases. Let me know if I can help you Wayne

    New forge !

Luke, that burner is designed as an atmospheric burner so does not need a blower. There is no regulator near the forge. I just looked at the pictures and the only thing that I can see that might make you think that there is an additional regulator is that there is a a small fan that blows air...

    New forge !

You should have the regulator at the bottle, then hose to a 1/4 turn ball valve for quick on/off then the needle valve to adjust volume of gas and fine tune the gas on a blown forge. The needle valve does not control pressure, that is done at the regulator, the needle valve only controls...

    Safety files?

The term that I think you are referring to is a SAFE SIDE file. This is so that you can file right up to a vertical surface and not scratch or mar the vertical surface, such as a plunge line in knife making. Let me know if I can help you. Wayne

    VFD controled buffer

I am using carpet on a disk grinder (or sander). Use it just like a buffer except you are working on the side rather than the edge. You will just have to try it. Let me know if I can help you.

    VFD controled buffer

I suggest that the way to do that is to go to a big box store and buy two 4 prong outlets and one 4 prong plug. Put the plug on the cable from the VFD and an outlet from each motor. Then you can plug the VFD into which ever motor you want to run. Both motors should be rated for the same RPM...

    VFD controled buffer

You will have to get a 3 phase motor to use a VFD. You can get an attachment from Harbor Freight that goes on the shaft of any 5/8" shafted motor. Baldor motors are very expensive. I sell TechTop cast aluminum motors much less expensively. They supply the motors for Baldor's European market...

    Looking to Identify Knifemaker

Another thing about Pakistani knives is that they tend to over do it. Damascus blade, decretive filing, fancy handle. It makes the knife to busy.

    Looking to Identify Knifemaker

I believe that if a custom knife maker went to the work to turn out a Damascus blade and furniture and decretive filing he would have a touch mark. Like the above post probably middle eastern.

    Vfd selection

Easier than wiring the VFD to motors is to simply wire in a 4 prong outlet to each motor and a 4 prong plug on the cable from the VFD. Then you can plug the VFD into any 3 phase motor. The 4 prong outlets and plugs are for clothes dryers. Let me know if I can help you.
