Which EDM stone works best on Magnacut? Let's find out!

Yeah, the CS HD stones seem to be pretty amazing... I'm gonna order an air profiler soon hopefully and see what time I make with it and these stones

Which EDM stone works best on Magnacut? Let's find out!

Yep... I think they have a sample set of all the grits of the same model stone which seems perfect as I think they would last a while. The ones I got here are 1/4"x1"x6" so plenty of abrasive. If you try some keep us posted on your thoughts!

Which EDM stone works best on Magnacut? Let's find out!

True, but when I know I'll be hand rubbing I'll alternate the grind direction on the belt slightly so I make sure it's a true 400 grit finish.

Which EDM stone works best on Magnacut? Let's find out!

I called Boride abrasives and they were kind enough to send a sample pack of 3 of their recommended stones for tool and stainless steel. I requested 400 grit as that's what I finish at on my belt grinder and I wanted to see which stone would remove the scratches quickest. They also included a...

    Re-handle opinions…

This. I agree it sucks but It's their knife now and they can mod how they wish. Anyone who knows your work knows that's not how you do things and it's easily provable that it's not what originally shipped on the knife.

    Flat or Hollow grind

It's fully automated, most likely on berger grinders

    Flat or Hollow grind

Flat at much easier for me as there are less things going on... Hollow is very difficult to be done the way I personally like it - with very clean grind lines, no rounding near the transition to the flat (ie you can't use cork belts or gator trizacts), a consistent edge thickness from heel to...

Small Batch Run of MagnaCut frame locks

If you grind deep (like you would on bevels) I don't think it will keep them straight... You want some residual peening to remain just below the surface on the flats.

Small Batch Run of MagnaCut frame locks

Yeah it will leave some dents that need to be ground out but they aren't very deep maybe a couple thousandths (at least with the hammer I use). Yeah I understand the concern on grinding more... I normally leave mine about .010" oversized so .005" would be cutting it pretty close. But I would...

Small Batch Run of MagnaCut frame locks

How much over the final thickness are they right now? You need a carbide peening hammer... (I use the 8oz one) You tap on the concave side to spread the metal out and it will straighten the blade, then you just grind off the surface dents from it and the blade stays straight. An SGA is great...
