    Need advise on cutting ivory

Yep, bandsaw. I think I would fabricate some type of brace to keep the ivory stable as you ran it through the saw. That way your cuts would be parallel and you would be maximize your material. Johnny

    Parts for NWG

Let us know if you have questions. When you get your flat platen, I would recommend that you JB-Weld a piece of low-expansion Pyrex glass to it. The platen will last much longer and you will get more consistent results. There are two threaded holes that you want to make sure that you keep...

Do any other Dogs have one of these? I have one but have only done limited handle shaping with it. What else can it be used for? Sharpening? What are your techniques and tricks with this attachement? Johnny

    Dumb question?

I have bought some in various thicknesses that seemed like thick paper. I recently picked up some from usaknifemaker.com that was a vulcanized fiber material. It is pretty thick but I am looking forward to working with it. My spacer material selection is purely for looks. I try to find a color...

    Gorilla Glue

Loctite 330 is my personal favorite right now. No mixing. Put the adhesive on one side and the activator on the other. The adhesive is thick enough to avoid over clamping and having a glue starved joint and the results are consistent. Plus there is plenty of time to get everything in place. It...

    Finishing the edge??

What is the best way to put the edge on your knives? Once I have the knife completed, I still need to put the edge on it as my final step. I usually have about 20 to 30 thousandths as an edge when I get I am done with heat treating. Too much to do with a conventional stone or Lansky...

Bill, I am fan of your work. I saw in one of your shop photos that you have a couple of KMG grinders. I have my first one in boxes in my garage. I am in Houston and humidity is a problem here. Did you paint or treat yours in any way to prevent oxidation? Many thanks, JR

    Inexpensive 1750 RPM buffer?

So I picked up one of theses 1750 RPM buffers on Saturday from woodcraft. I think the original price was around 125 or so. It was on sale for 89 bucks. The guy gave me another 10% off since I had a coupon. So 80 bucks later, I am in my garage taking the grinding wheels off and replacing them...
