    Drilling A Wa Handle

I learned how to sharpen drills when I was a teenager, that was just part of working in a machine shop. I have a Drill Doctor but it mostly collects dust, except for small drills under 1/8". It's harder to get a uniform grind on small drills with my aging eyes. I touch up my dull drills in...

    Drilling A Wa Handle

You're right a spade bit will do the job too. I'm not fond of those for long holes, to me they seem to cut too aggressively and with a small shaft may tend to wander more than a twist drill. That pen vice is pretty slick, first time I've seen one of those.

    Drilling A Wa Handle

I thought I'd post a few pictures of a fixture I made to drill holes in Wa handles, for use in the dowel assembly method. This is about the third one I've made and each time I've had trouble holding the handle in place and getting a clean straight hole. This fixture seems to solve that...

    240V Plug Adapter Question

My 50 amp circuit is dedicated & sized for a 50 amp welder load (Miller 251 MIG). As discussed, I see no problem individually connecting lesser loads to the circuit. I agree about the UL approval, certainly raises questions about how that process works. The converter plug is likely made in...

    240V Plug Adapter Question

Great comment. I did not see that the Parkworld device was not UL approved. Looking at the company's website, curiously, other wired-type pig tail converters seem to be UL approved, but not the molded puck style that I purchased. I'm not sure what to make of that. With a bit more searching...

    240V Plug Adapter Question

In my opinion, yes. I connect a number of 240v, 20 and 30 amp pieces of equipment to my 50 amp circuit. BUT not at the same time, just one at a time. As long as the connected load(s) does not exceed the breaker & wire sizing for that circuit (in my case 50 amps) then there should be no...

    240V Plug Adapter Question

I just went through this exact problem with my new Paragon HT oven. Paragon says that the warranty is void if I change the plug end. My shop also has a 6-50R outlet I use for my welders. Paragon says that it is OK to plug the 30 amp plug into the 50 amp circuit. I also do that with a number...

    Forge help

More ideas for your consideration. The valving is standard except for the yellow ball valve that, when closed, directs the inlet gas to a needle valve that can more accurately control the gas flow. While each burner is controlled with a ball valve, the down side to this plumbing arrangement is...

    PID Controlled Tempering Ovens

That's a nifty oven, looks like the max temp and % tolerance would be good. Only downside I see is price, and it's apparently from China. The owners manual may take a bit of interpreting.

    PID Controlled Tempering Ovens

That's correct. And then disconnect the wires going to the oven's temperature sensor and connect new wires to the heating elements, those new wires plug into the back of the controller I mentioned. The PID controller then takes over energizing the heating coils.

    PID Controlled Tempering Ovens

One note programming a PID controller for an oven - it can be a challenge getting the settings right for a oven's unique heat loss. Fortunately some PIDs have a self programming feature that helps a lot with the set up.
