American Tanto/Kwaiken in W2 and Amboyna

Cuts my arm-hair real nice Murph... but with the polish that I put on the blade, I'm afraid to cut anything else. ;) The balance point is almost right at the guard/tsuba... so it's quick, but probably wouldn't have much behind it for any sort of tameshigiri. Erin Side note Murph... weren't you...

American Tanto/Kwaiken in W2 and Amboyna

Thanks guys. Hey Bubba... I totally had to look up hamidashi and shinogi zukuri. Unfortunately I've come to a point in my life where every new thing that I learn knocks some other fact out of my brain. It's OK though, cuz I never much liked what's-his-name anyway. Erin

American Tanto/Kwaiken in W2 and Amboyna

{Cross-posted w/ BF} Good morning Dogs. I finished this knife a month or two ago... but it took me awhile to build the matching sheath and shoot some photos. I'm not exactly sure what to call it, as it's probably a bit short to be a tanto in the traditional sense... but there's really not...

    Knife #24: Redwood Mini-Chop

Thanks guys. It's kind of an atypical design... I liked the flow of it when I drew it out on paper, but wasn't sure how it would translate with others. Now I feel all warm and fuzzy. Best way to start off a rainy Friday morning. Erin

    Knife #24: Redwood Mini-Chop

{Cross-posted with BF} Good morning guys, I just finished this knife up yesterday and am lovingly referring to it as a mini-chop. The plan was for a dark look that complemented the redwood burl, so I went with a blued guard and a bit of a darker etch on the blade. We had a bit of drama...

Knife #23 - Frame Handle Fighter

Thanks guys. I'm really happy with this one. I We got a few hours without rain today, so I added a couple outdoor photos that better reflect the actual color of the handle. I also built a sheath. Erin

Knife #23 - Frame Handle Fighter

{Cross-posted with BF} This knife has been sitting on my bench since last September. I am filled with relief that it is finally complete. This is my first attempt at filework, and only my second knife using frame-handle construction. Some Stats: Length: 14-1/8" Blade: 8-3/8" (Tip to Choil)...

Hahaha... "grinder fund". ;) He may have to get in line behind his sister Zoe who wants to build a pink knife so she can cut the fingers off of anyone who tries to harm our family.

Eric... It is pronounced TRIGG-vee. It's an old family name. I figure with a nickname like Trig, people will assume he likes guns or math... both of which are fine with me.

    Yeah... I'm new here!

Hey Tinker... not sure whether you remember me, but we met a couple of times (probably nearly a decade ago) at some cuttings... with Gus and Josh Hemingway and a few others. I remember you bringing your Oasis Fighter along to Josh's back yard. Good to see you here. Erin

Gift Exchange Knife - Fastest Build to Date

Thanks guys... guess I'm going to have to learn that it's OK to shift gears when a project loses my interest. One funny thing that I just noticed; the original sketch says W2... but I ended up using 1095 because I didn't have any handy cutoffs of annealed W2 that were the correct size. :34:

Gift Exchange Knife - Fastest Build to Date

{Cross-Posted w/ BF} Hey guys... ... so I've been in a bit of a knife-making funk lately. I just haven't been very excited to get into the shop. There's been a partially completed frame-handle sitting on my bench for more than three months now. I can visualize the knife in my head, and I...
