    SS wrapping puffy

When I make the envelope, I also make a red x on the handle end. I remember years past When a friend heat treated some blades for me and the bevels had an indent in them. Duh he had pulled them out blade first and the pliers while red hot had dented them.

    SS wrapping puffy

I must be abnormal because I give it a shot of WD-40 before I do th top seal. I used to do kraft paper or similar then had trouble with them sticking to the foil. I Like the puffy so I snip the end and makes it easy to extract them faster.

Temper is 400 degrees for two hours twice. Source was Rick Menefee and Phil Wilson. I think Rick does another liquid soak after...

What's going on in your shop?

The thing to do on tapered tangs to make sure your blade is held straight. You then line up your holes and drill straight down through that blade and handle material. If you have a Billy Helton Aligner you have it licked. You have blade held and screws to help supposition when you drill through...

You can also run a stitch wheel over the holes before you cut a groove on back. Helps to keep from having to contend with the push out .
