Need something for the knife shop.

There's a full size grizzly milling machine on Ebay for 1800 or offer....It's over in Washington, I have friends there and if I didn't already have one I would be on it like white on rice in a glass of milk.

    Kephart/Drop point for funzies!

This is a test blade, It was doomed from the beginning. I've been breaking forged blades all week! Looking for the perfect heat treat and this is the only way to know for sure. Proper procedure, attention to detail and break it to verify grain structure. I don't want to guess that my heat...

No you've just work hardened the steel. Nothing you can do but go slow, use sharp bits and keep it cool.

    Gas Forge Blower Recommendation?

This all depends on the size and shape of both your ribbon burner and your forge. For mine it runs at 1 psi of propane with the blower closed off completely and heats VERY QUICKLY!

    My Grinder build

Here is another round of pics, had some time to work on the grinder this morning. Got the flat platen finished up with 3" wheels. Also got the tool arm made up for the 10" wheel. Then spent some time lining things up and adding the right nylon washers and bushings. The tracking wheel assembly I...

Latest sheath and a few firsts...

all the angled thong punch does is makes it so that the lace doesn't bunch up at the hole in the leather. Then again some prefer a straight punch to the angled.... I use both for different jobs. The picture above looks good. Another trick to lacing is to make sure the edge of your leather is...

Latest sheath and a few firsts...

The very loose rule is spacing is the same as the width of your lace. 1/4" lace, 1/4" spacing. I tend to go a little tighter with a Mexican round braid. Also, try an angled thong punch on single and double cordovan. it just angles the lace coming down the piece to match the cordovan weave.

    My Grinder build

I think you could go with less thickness in a few places for sure. I tend to overbuild and build once. It was only a few hours of fabrication to get it to this point. Drilling all the holes and whatnot took as long as all of the welding thus far. I had to put it all in the mill to make sure it...

I should have it all mocked up for final fitting on Monday when my other wheels and parts come in. I should have all the fabrication done by then and get it all torn apart for final paint and fitting.
