    Finally Ordering a Grinder

Thank you Chris! I am hooked on these things and I have now spent a small fortune ordering supplies and watching them disappear. I need to get to a place where I am efficient enough to sell a few. I just want to recover my costs, but my problem is that I like expensive materials. Just wait...

    Finally Ordering a Grinder

I saved up and was ready to grab a KMG TX, but had a few questions. Mailed them to the email off the website with no response. Maybe a one off situation, but it started me to looking around when I had not. Had never heard of Reeder and then looked to see where they were. Imagine my...

    Leather for the small bowie

I just let it be. Meant to be used, so dirty it shall get. I had the bright idea to add the purple which is someone’s favorite color, but it looked better without any dye. I am still building my arsenal, but one day will have an assortment of goods.

    Leather for the small bowie

My problem with leather is that I want to rush through it and move on, but I will say that people love knives with pants!

    Leather for the small bowie

Is there a way to keep the natural color?

    Leather for the small bowie

Finished this up tonight. Custom cut letter M for the stamping and purple dyed beaver tail to match the purple heart wood. One hammer mishap, but not much I can do about it.

    Harden Tiny Knife

Yes. I meant taken apart. I actually ended up hardening and tempering for the heck of it. Survived just fine. I even dabbed oil on it when I tempered and created a cool pattern on it that stands up to sanding. She is all epoxied up now.

    Harden Tiny Knife

I built a tiny sheath for the tiny knife and now it hangs around my neck. I did harden it, but haven’t put a good edge on it yet. Sadly everyone likes this better than my other knives......

    Latest Build - always learning

I was making this along with the last one and trying to slow down even more. The grind is down to about 60 %, so more to come. I have ceramic so that I can hopefully back up and get good plunge lines. I have stayed away from that area so far. One tool that I could not live without is the...

    Almost done with another one

Thanks! The problem is that I get in a hurry and I want things done, but learning to slow down. I was going to ask how people do some of the finish work. I used files on the guards cause copper responds really well to that, but I spent hours shaping and finally hand sanding to 400 grit. I...

    Almost done with another one

Thanks guys! Again, I don’t mind the critique. As for the hammer marks and forge scale, my friend asked for that after seeing another I made. I do like it myself though as I set out to make rustic looking knives. And it was the first time I had the design like that. I was going to end the...

    Almost done with another one

I am still learning, and yes I had an issue with plunge lines. My grinder belt moves, but I just got some ceramic to add to it, but not before I had to turn this into a vanishing plunge line. Lol. I am very close to buying a real grinder. 1095 forged blade, but to me a ton of grinding to fix...

    Temper Oven

I had it set to 400. 450 is the max on this unit.

    Temper Oven

    Yes typo.

    Temper Oven

And it actually works! Took about 15 minutes to get to 400 and it never got lower than 399.6 and no higher than 400.

    Temporary Mounting

I am learning exactly what not to do and will draw out my next knives, but this one is in flight. I usually drill out the pith, rough the inside, and fill with epoxy. Makes a totally solid back end that you can set screws, etc in there anywhere and it isn't going anywhere. I want to start...

    Temporary Mounting

What do you guys do to attach pieces in a temporary way to rough them out before final finishing? Specifically, I have to create a pommel to this antler. I could use screws or pins, but not sure just yet what else I want to do. Maybe design as you is not the best idea. I want to get the...

    Temper Oven

I am trading a knife for it, even if my skills are not worth the price. Testing it out today and working on the knife when I get off work. Coming along good for me.

    Temper Oven

Even refers to heat treating, but nothing about it in the manual. Getting closer to having more accuracy in my process. My wife will be most pleased by this since I will not be doing things inside anymore.

    Temper Oven

I was telling someone about possibly buying a heat treat oven and we had a misunderstanding. He said they had some oven that was new in the box and nobody knew what to do with it. Turned out to be a Quincy Labs oven. Highest temp is 450, but I think there is nothing wrong with it being used...
