I thought i was going to have two nice billets but i will be happy with one. I do have 3, 4" end pieces that did not twist up tight, that i am going to forge into a billet. It should look pretty cool also.

I have all my equipment up and running, filled up the propane tank, cleaned and welded the billet together. Hopefully, i can get this welded and forged to shape tomorrow! I can't believe how much steel is "sacrificed " with this pattern!

I have been wanting to try this pattern for a while and i figured you needed something a little special for being the event coordinator. I have a blade in mind, i hope it works out, should be pretty cool!!!

Haha, twisted sister, i like it! This is my first attempt at a turkish twist, this is a far as i could get with all my equipment failures. I will have to do some repairs next week end so i can finish up the billet. I hope to have 7 rows/bars of twist. Looks pretty cool afer a quick etch.

So, I have started on my KITH project, i started making the metal this weekend. I started out with some 1084 and 15N20. I cut and stacked up 2, 13 layer billets. Forge welded them, drew them out, cut them into 4 pieces, restacked and forge welded them back together. We now have 2 billets at 52...

BTW according to my thermo-coupler the antifreeze dry ice went down to -84. I was looking for alcohol but had no luck finding any when I was out.....

I have been playing with heat treating AEB-L. I bought -100 degree camper antifreeze $25.67, I bought a 7lb block of Dry Ice from Publix for $12.71, I can get the dry ice any day of the week. I never priced LN here in my area. I figure if I am going to do a batch of AEB-L knives I will send them...

I like twister Damascus, i like around 30 layers, i forge it down to 1 1/4" round bar (any bigger and it's to much for me to twist) i twist it 1 complete turn for each inch of bar length. I forge it back flat to about 1/2 " grind out the cold shuts then forge it to thickness.

I have a few blanks cut out if you want to experiment. :p

Well, my tru oil is hard in the bottle. I will go get some and do a side by side comparison with the super glue process that i am doing now. Is there a trick to posting a video here?

I would try it on a test piece first, it should be totally cured the next day.

No, but i do put it in my toaster oven at 15 degrees over the temp in the shop to speed it up.
