    Daniel’s KITH WIP

Looking good so far...my general rule of thumb for grinding before or after heat treat is stock thickness. Anything 1/8" and under I heat treat first then grind bevels

    KBAC VFD controller tip(s)

I love my kbac, never had an issue with it. I also got the reverse switch on mine and I use reverse on every knife I make. I run the belt in reverse when putting my final edge on. That way I can see the burr forming! The reverse switch took me all of 2 min to install and it was like $17 from kbac

    Maker's Mark On Stainless Steel

I know they put a lot of research in making their solutions, but when I ran out I started using salt water and actually think it works better. Just keep adding salt until it doesn't dissolve anymore then apply it to the felt and have at it.

Brad's KITH for Chris Reiley - Finished

I know your pain, I still have that issue. One thing I found is that if I grind the right side of my blade first, which is using my left hand with the edge up, I can match it with my right hand much easier than by doing my strong side first.

    Jeremy Bartlett's KITH for Bossdog!

Ok, got a little more done on the chef knife last night and today during my lunch break. Got my oven up to temp: Fresh out of the Parks 50 quench: Cleaned up and out of the temper oven after 3 1 hour cycles at 400 degrees: After that I scribed my centerline along the edge: Ground 45s...

MT Bob's KITH for Fred Kingery

Here is a knife a made 5 years ago...I was just a newbie and I believe this is my first multipart handle...this was ivory g10, copper pins and liners and black dyed maple burl...if you look closely you can see the staining on the bolster area.

MT Bob's KITH for Fred Kingery

It doesn't seem to be as bad with the belts... especially at lower grits where the belts don't load up with material as much. Another note...watch the heat when shaping the handle as the ivory g10 like to burn. I suggest going slow or light touches. Hopefully you have a vfd

    Jeremy Bartlett's KITH for Bossdog!

Thank you, I see you are using furnace cement which is what I used for a few years. I've just recent switched to satanite and I'm still getting my process down. What are you using to quench your 1075?

MT Bob's KITH for Fred Kingery

Hey there great looking design. I'm going to go ahead and give you a tip from experience. When hand sanding the handle. Make sure you use a different piece of sand paper when sanding the ivory bolster and do not try to sand both the black and ivory at the same time. The black g10 will stain the...

    Knife Care Woes

I also send a care sheet/warranty out with all my knives. Especially carbon kitchen knives. I also ask the customer if they have ever seen an old slip joint or an old kitchen knife where the blade is dark grey and explain to them what a patina is and how once it's formed it makes the blade more...

So here is a custom order I finished up last week. This is a new design for me, but I consider it a guard less camp/bowie. I really like the way this one feels! I'm gonna be making some more like this. So, here is the back story. A friend of mine ordered this for a kid in his youth group at...

    Noob/Rookie maker KITH?

I agree with everything that has been said above. The purpose of the kith is to make you strive to do your best and to get constructive criticism from the person that receives your knife. I did my first kith on a different forum about 5 years ago and it helped me tremendously. Never be...

    Hey, What Wood Is This?

Definitely doesn't look like maple to me...the spalting in maple usually looks much different. Could be some type of curly oak? I'll reach out to my wood expert and see what he says
