    Christmas Exchange 2018!

Yeah, you don't have to specifically buy something for them. We just send things we have in our shop already.

    Variable speed grinder questions/help

3 phase motors can be easy/cheap to find. Nobody wants them. I paid $60 for my last 1.5 hp Leeson from the pawn shop and it was still in the shrink wrap. For VFD I wouldn't consider anything other than KBAC, but then again, my grinders are gold plated. KBAC`s can be found on sale pretty reasonable.

    Christmas Exchange 2018!

It hasn't been an issue in the past. That gives 5 days to check a guys profile or posts to see what he likes.

    Christmas Exchange 2018!

It's that time of the year again!Time for the Knife Dogs Christmas Exchange. Last year I was really late getting it started, and this year I'm early. Hopefully the extra time will allow more makers to join in. Most of you know what this is about. A gift exchange between knife makers of all skill...

    Drying an Oak Burl

Leave the anchor seal on. On slabs I usually coat the cut part but leave just the center uncoated. When I cut into blocks (4x4 or so) I put the seal on sparingly making sure small areas get left uncoated. The idea is to slow the drying.

    Specific hand sanding question

On most of my working knives I do a 400 satin finish. I start at 320 diagonal, then 400 straight, then 600 straight and then back to 400 in only one direction and tilting the sanding bar as I draw it across.

    8" to 12" grinder wheel....

I have a 20" and I love it, but I'm also still getting use to it. Bruce Bump built one with a wheel off of a tank.

    Black fox one grinder reviews?

Vombrown, Ed did mention it earlier in this post. If I'm not mistaken the last quote was taken from page 1. Ed brought up NRT, not the other way around.

    Black fox one grinder reviews?

If I understood the website correctly, the $4400 version was not a good comparison to the TW90 because the TW90 at least includes a contact wheel and small wheel setup.

    Comparing Grinders. the 2x72 type

And for me the ratchet is a must. I wouldn't consider a grinder without it. I've used a lot of J-Flex and have never had an issue with tracking or belt breaking. Try both grinders if you can, see what works best for you.

    Stabilizing

C Craft if you are specifically looking for bark pocket, I can help you with both natural and stabilized. I've got a bunch of it.

    Comparing Grinders. the 2x72 type

The TW90 comes with a flat platen with 2" contact wheels on top and bottom, 8" contact wheel, and small wheel holder. You need to supply the small wheels you need. It also includes the adjustable rest for horizontal and vertical, 2hp Leeson motor and KBAC Freq drive. It's the only grinder that...

    Comparing Grinders. the 2x72 type

I have criteria for a grinder, some are a must some are just nice. Requirements: Direct drive, ratcheting belt tension and rubber on the idler wheels so you can grind on them. Things that are nice: Aluminum tool bars ( I prefer 1.25") horizontal option. I know Ed doesn't like aluminum tool arms...

    Look what came!

For some reason people don't want to buy KBAC VFD's. They will buy the ultra cheap Chinese model from Ebay and then spent a day building a "dust free" enclosure for it. They will then complaint when it goes to hell in a year. KBAC's are cheap as dirt when you look at the quality you are getting.

    IT'S TIME.....for another Blade Show!

I'm hoping they get rid of the second room, or find a venue that can handle the size of the show. That was a nightmare for the poor people in the second room.

    Skinny Hunter

This knife was adapted from one of my fillet knives. The blade is 1/8" AEB-L and the handle is black palm. The slivers from black palm hurt, but they are huge and easy to get out.

    Bird & Trout Hunter

This is a newer pattern for me. The blade is Bohler N690 and redwood burl.

    CPM154 and Ringed Gidgee

Thanks for the compliments. The Ringed Gidgee is a dense wood that likely doesn't need to be stabilized, but I send it in anyway. It works just like any other wood.
