    Board of Directors check in

Board members are usually not able to be officers. It's one or the other. All the positions are elected. Committee members would be appointed and could be from the general membership.

Suggestions on where to direct our efforts

We have two of the top experts in the area, Howard and Kevin. Kevin is a genius, and always helpful when I've asked. I think Howard does a great job at putting things in layman's terms. Larrin would also be a great presenter. I'm not sure where he lives or if he would be willing to help. We...

    San Mai Bowie

No! I didn't say that and I'm sorry if you understood that to be my comment. A go mai blade has 5 layers. A San mai blade has 3 layers. The two layers of nickel make it go mai. The seller is using the term "Solid Phase Bonding". When I researched that term it describes what we normally call...

    San Mai Bowie

Technically I believe it would be go mai not san mai because it's 5 layers. I'm not sure they are using any special techniques to make this. They call it solid phase bonding instead of forge welding. Its kind of like calling your garbage man a sanitation engineer.

    Law Enforcement Knives

Stainless for sure. Cops don't always take good care of their stuff. Concealable is the most important feature. I carried a fixed blade on my belt for about two weeks. I found it was far too easy for a person to grab it and put it in me. The vest does very little to protect against knives.

    Anti Scale Contamination?

I've never used Turco, but have used hi temp paint with ok results. I prefer just wrapping them in foil when doing the thermal cycling.

$28 for 12" bar of Damascus makes me very cautious. It's also an odd combo of steels.

    EDCI oil?

I've been using it for about a year, and I'm a dealer for it. It's not an oil. It doesn't leave any type of film or residue on the blade. I use it on my blades I'm grinding so when I leave them overnight and come back to them in the morning they don't have any corrosion. It's great stuff!

    Question on handle material

The highest profit margin for someone cutting figured wood is pen blanks. The smaller the piece of wood the higher the cost. If you can buy big blocks you are much better off. Also don't forget to look at the thinner side of the block. Often times it's nicer and you can get more scales from it.
