    You know what grinds my gears.......... When I open the oven door to quench the blades that have been soaking and you realize you never put the blades in.

    I have a 47l with a 4" opening. It keeps for about 10 weeks. I usually have several blades ready for heat before I fill it. Also, just so you know, the blades don't need to be submerged to get the efect.

    Question about using a buffer.

    Buffers scare the hell out of me. I use a small HF 3600 RPM buffer for buffing the fronts of my scales prior to mounting them to the knife.     This is my nessmuck pattern I call the Donegal. The blade is 3/16" 12c27 Sandvik stainless steel, with hickory burl. The blade is flat ground with a machine finish. It includes a RH Leather sheath. $155 shipped in the US. Questions and comments are always welcome.

    Heat Treat Ovens, Looking for Input

    I have an Evenheat with Rampmaster. I love it. When ordering a kiln, figure out the absolute largest kiln you would ever need and then buy two sizes larger. The price difference between the sizes is negligible. 220 is a must in my opinion.

    For those of you that keep a Knife Making or Shop Log

    I keep a log of every heat treat I do. I also do build sheets for each knife and keep track of them on a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet includes heat treat lot, model, steel type, hardware, handle type, and sheath type.
