I have a cheaper plasma cuter. It will handle up to 1/2" pretty easily but thicker is a challenge.... and the heavy plate I have is closer to 3/4".... guess I won't know until I try. You can gouge with the plasma cuter, I'll have to weld up some scrap and see how it does, if it works and I can...
