    cutoff saw?

I have an older model and had poor luck cutting anything wide or thick. Thin metal cut vertically it does ok, not terribly straight. Anything boxed or flat it struggles. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

Well... it's working. Next weekend I'll be testing it out. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

    New pet Turkey ?

Definitely looks like a young hen. Neat. I had a couple hens and roughly 25 chicks doing regular tours through the field... debated going out with a net to scoop a couple up to throw in the chicken coop for Thanksgiving, lmfao Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

Not sure what you mean to be honest. I'm in Maine, so as much as I appreciate the offer I'll have to pass, lol Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

    Well.... that sucks.

I have a cheaper plasma cuter. It will handle up to 1/2" pretty easily but thicker is a challenge.... and the heavy plate I have is closer to 3/4".... guess I won't know until I try. You can gouge with the plasma cuter, I'll have to weld up some scrap and see how it does, if it works and I can...

    Well.... that sucks.

At this point I'm thinking I'll try. I feel I need to remove the whole lower shelf first tho so I can get some good welds and reinforcement on the I- beam. I wish I had an acetylene torch tho. I do have a plasma cuter however. I have some thick plate I can use to reinforce the lower shelf as...

Not a single reply. I can weld, I have an old Century 250 Stick Welder and plenty of 7018 rod. I am debating giving it a try. I should add I'm completely self taught, via YouTube academy and the Ol' School of Hard Knocks. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

No, a fellow DIY'er.... there's a lot of similarly designed pressses out there.... I think it succumbed to poor welds and fatigue. It just sucks. Seems the second I make progress somewhere I lose it elsewhere. This certainly puts damascus forging on hold. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

    Well.... that sucks.

I just took those photos, Ken, that's how it sits right now. I don't know a welder local so I put out an ad hoping to find one, the only guy in the area I knew closed up shop due to illness.... partly why I've been learning to weld. I'll look into a pressure gauge, but for now I gotta figure out...

No pressure gauge, it's a converted log splitter. I purchased it along with a bunch of other tools from a smith who closed his shop. I'll snap some pics shortly. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

    Well.... that sucks.

I'm in Maine. I'd like to fix it but right now I'm not sure it's possible. I have it pulled together most of the way, but it's twisted to the point I'm not sure I could get the die plates straight. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk

    Well.... that sucks.

The guy who built it claimed it was a 30 ton, not honestly sure. Clearly the welds aren't great. As far as support, not really, the lower platform/die holder were welded to the I beam. I think it let go right behind the lower die plate first, I noticed my billet was "banana-ing" a bit, that's...

    Well.... that sucks.

Setting the weld on a 256 layer damascus billet and press went POP! Don't think that's fixable... Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk
