Well I didn't read it yet but I already got an email response. I could see the first line that says they have a lifetime.... I assume warranty, since that is what I was asking about. But an hour or two isn't too bad.

Couldn't you just holler out the window really loud?! :D I am guessing this is a branding reselling agreement. I don't think he makes them. This, also, is the first I am hearing anything negative about gas-actuators.

I want them to show them sitting there staring at the tempering oven and twiddling their thumbs. :) So much of that TV show is entertainment. But that is the point. Personally, there are very few blades on that show I would be interested in reproducing, ever. Let alone, under such pressure. I...

I have a leaning towards the Alec Steele one right now. It already has a plug that matches the ones in my shop :) I am not sure if it is a good thing or not. The AmeriBrade has 2" tool arms, where it seems like all the others I have looked at standardized on 1-1/2" ones. I am not sure whether...

What is the specific benefit of flipping? My main interest is folders and other small blades, and your qualification of "Horizontal capability is a nice-to-have, but is more valuable if you make folders." still makes me wonder what it is that one does in the horizontal configuration?

I have narrowed it down to 4 options with similar features and similar costs: 1. OBM - with with 1.5 hp motor (single speed), 10" contact wheel, tilt table, bench and extra arms as necessary for tilt table and contact wheel. 2. KMG - 3 speed with 2hp motor, 10" contact wheel 3. AmeriBrade - 3...

So some money will be flowing, and it might be time to pick up an actual decent 2*72 belt grinder. I know I want to have platen and contact wheel and slack belt access, ability to do surface grinding to thickness would be a big plus. Shop is wired both 120/240. What brand/model offers best...

    HT oven choices

SWMBO has agreed that we need a kiln/HT oven. However neither of us knows what features to look for. She would like to be able to fire some pottery. I would like to be able to HT some different metals. Any suggestions on brands or models? Or at least what do I look for in controls?

So, whatever may have been wonky with their phone system before, seems to be corrected. I was able to speak with someone and got very specific times on restocking certain items, and some others they weren't so certain about. However, the fellow I spoke with on the phone was quite courteous and...

    Bolsters

I am up to doing some bolsters next. I have a few questions. 1. Do they need to be undercut (dovetail)? 2. Is the scale edge of the bolster the reference, or the pin hole? 3. Do they get tinned and heated or clamped and sweated? 4. Is brass-brass any different process than brass-nickle_silver...

Well they have been telephoned with no answer or answering service/machine. So I sent them an email. I get that I might be able to contact them and get their official stance on such things. I will share whatever they tell me.

Thanks, I got the Jantz one, that is in my shopping cart along with a chunk of brass and some nickel silver. I like McMaster Carr for lots of stuff. I figured I would ask to see if I was missing some secret fishing hole. :)

RE:USAKnifemaker So, when something common like 80CRV2 or 1084 is listed as out of stock, how long of a wait is it usually for them to have more? And, the second ?? would be do they ever have it in 3/32 (0.094) or is 1/8" the thinnest they carry?
