    I have to drive ar keast 35-40 miles to find ant gas. closest welding supply sjhop is 25 miles away and sells no gas. I ended up ordering the Eastwood MIG 180. Report to follow.

    I’m wondering if because they may not where is much wind ground say stainless steel pins, could you say finish your handle scales to like 98% and then pull them off and yet your blade or whatever you still need to do with the metal?

    I have o firends where i live as I just moved here. LOL. i was able to weld with the crap HD machine. It was just nadequate from the get go and degraded quickly. What gas do you use with MIG?

    I had that cheap 110V HOme Depot Lincoln flux core and it never really works for handles. So I need 220 for that no matter if it is Mig or stick. I have seen sa guy do the whole job with a TIG with no filler, but it was a commercial machine.

    of course, the problem is that the "decent looking weld" is made up of stuff that you do not want in your billet.

    Yeah, that sis what I figured. What gas do you actually need? Also, how well does it work in stick mode? I was thinking maybe sealing up the seam with Tig fusing using no filler metal and then stick weld the handle.

    I only ned a welder for damscus billets and such. What would be the bst for under $1000. New only. I had a Home Depot Lincoln 110v flux core wire welder and it was inadequtae from the get go and got worse quickly..

    I appreciate it, but understand that the only time I would use this was for roughing a blades to parkerize them. So I guess I’m just not going to be Parkerizing any blades. But this is kind of the same problem that I ran into when I was looking at power hammers. The self-contained hammers...

    Once again, we’re talking about $1500 compressor for $140 blast cabinet. Understand that I currently own no air tools, nor do I have any intention of buying any.

    So does anyone know if the 50 to 100 round bar that you can buy from? Granger is decent stuff? I’m inclined to trust them more than somebody from eBay.
