    What wood is this?

If you like a deep russet color with some chatoyance you'll love it plus there's no reason to stabilize it. Down side is that sanding it on a grinder puts a fine yellow dust all over your shop. I'd recommend hand tools, but then, I always recommend hand tool for shaping and finishing handles...

    What wood is this?

I don't know if all wood oxidizes to some degree but the one that I've found that will oxidize the most is North American Osage Orange. Doug

    Alamo Tribute Bowie

Yes, that looks a lot better seeing you hold it in your hand. Doug

    Alamo Tribute Bowie

The blade and the handle look great but isn't that quillion that is bent towards the pommel a little close to the handle? Does it interfere with the grip. Doug

    Sanding Stones???????

EDM stones come in various hardnesses as well ad different grits. Some of the softer stones in courser grits can conform to the shape of the blade rather quickly. I have some down in the basement somewhere and I don't use them anymore. Doug

What I’ve been up to lately.

On the first picture with the four knives. How do they feel in the hand? Except for possibly the top one it looks like the handles are a little small. Doug

    First Hamon

Another thing that can work to match the cement on the opposite is to turn the blade over a mirror and use the reflected pattern to match the pattern on the other side of the blade. Doug

Warped 26C3 Blade - A Little Fixing Tool

I like the jig. I use a short length of angle iron with C-clamp to apply the counter bend and how many ever cent pieces I need on the ends to set the degree of bend that I need, but like I said, I really do like the jig. Doug

    WWII-ish combat knife...

Ted, you must go back further in the Navy than I do if you got $200 a month with hazardous duty and sub pay. At least it came with a place to sleep and three squares a day and I understood that food on a sub was pretty good. Doug
