    That Was Stupid

    That Was Stupid

Thanks Bill. I just told Bob I couldn't remember where I got it and your post awoke my poor memory. Got it from Jantz.

    That Was Stupid

It's a major pain refinishing a blade with the handle on that's for sure. I have one of these vices and it makes it a little easier. Blade was finished at 1000 grit. Had to step back to 800 to clean it up and then back to 1000. It's shiner that it appears in the pic.

    German boar hunting bowie

The only bad thing I can say about that knife "It's not mine". Great profile and craftmanship. Nice job!

    That Was Stupid

When I do my handle work I wrap the blade in a WD40 soaked paper towel and tape. Grabbed a towel off the bench not realizing it had Ferric on it. I managed to save the blade but it was a lot of extra work for fifteen seconds worth of stupidity.

    Auction Knife

Hi Bob! I don't dye them myself. I buy them from a couple of guys on Instagram. Gulf Coast Blanks and Exotic Blanks. Both guys are great to deal with and have quality products.

    Auction Knife

Sheath was done by JT Leather in Rio Rico AZ. Leatherwork is something I’ve played around with but not enough to get good at. I let JT handle that. :)

    Auction Knife

I like using dyed woods. It can be really nice when you find the right pieces. It's not all created equal. That's for sure.

    Metric Drill Bit Sizes

Thanks. Really good information! I use a #30 on 1/8 pins and a "F" on 1/4 pins and they fit great. Just trying to get the same fit with metric pins. Out of curiosity I just measured a 6mm pin. Should be .236 and it measures .232. That's an .008 difference with a #73 bit. Might just need to get a...
