I'm about to make my first forge and this is what I have come up with. I work at a plumbing HVAC company so I have found a few things in the scrap pile over the years. This time it was a small expansion tank for an Ro system. It's about 14"tall and maybe 8" or so diameter, not to big but big enough I figure for a small knife forge I can tuck away in the shed while not using it. I have built a frosty tee burner, not tested yet. I have coming in the mail the high temp fiber white insulation and a 30psi gas hose/reg. I'll need to get some refactoring sealer as well.
My big question is will a pizza stone type material work to put in the forge so I can put the knives on it? I need a brick that will be thin because of the size of the tank I'm using? Need some ideas
