Trag won’t fill your remaining gaps. It’s strictly a slicking agent. You’ll want to buy a some wax and you can rub that area quickly which will heat the wax and fill the voids. After that, go back to about 220 grit then around 500 and slick it again. Should be good to go.
As others have said… most won’t care and a nicer sheath will add value to the overall presentation. You’ll need to be able to justify about $100-$110 to recover your cost of outsourcing and what have you. I often make sheaths for a handful of makers including for myself and it seems to work well.
Never thought about it. Seems like there would have to be an electrolyte involved but I’ve never heard of or seen an instance of dissimilar metals having a negative impact on the knife.
This was a fun smallish edc I finished in time for father's day:
OAL: 7.75"
handle: wood/resin with stainless pins
blade: 416 layered damascus with hand filed vine along the top
price: $290
Hi Trust. a quick Google search of my own last name and my knives I came across this post you made here over 10 years ago! Ha ha how time flies. Sorry, I didn’t see your note then, but happy to answer any questions if you would like. Feel free to text me at 713-724-1993 or you can reach me...
Here are two knives a neighbor brought by and I didn’t have any answers for him. Being the local Knifemaker I get folks swinging by from time to time and see some interesting finds. Any ideas what either of these might be or who made the little folder?
