I cant seem to find how lone or cold I should allow my D2 to get in LN anyone got any advice on it. I've looked it up on the knife steel reference also from the company itself and still nothing. It all says it will benefit from it but other than that nothing.
I have some D2 I am trying to get ready to heat treatment, and was wondering a few things
Do I need to cryogenic quench?
And if so what's better liquid nitrogen or dry ice and kerosene? Does it matter??
So how do I achieve a distal taper. Like I told opaul tight now I do hollow ground knives. Can I still achieve a distal taper when I do hollow grinds and is the process for tapering the same as the on the handle as it is for the blade??
I completely agree. Apparently his grandson got ahold of it and it was way rougher than that. I'm looking to just finish it enough for him to enjoy. He himself worked on this particular blade(I think that is what happened to the plunge lines.) I'd like to finish this one. I may just finish it...
This is true. I may just finish it with my current ability. The man is getting up in age and wants to be able to pass it down so I think I'm finish it just not head in the direction of which it was originally thought up to be.
He just asked me to finish it. I was wondering if there was a way to finish it kinda in the ballpark of the original thought behind the knife but without talking to the maker that is looking to be impossible. I'm thinking I will take that spur off and just add a bolster and scale.
