I'm thinking about doing a very nice folder, and one of the things I've seen in searching for fossil mammoth and walrus is mammoth tooth. It seems to be pretty popular, and it is no doubt visually stunning.

Is it any good for handle material? If so, does anybody have any recomendations of a good supplier?

I can't offer a specific supplier. From what I understand about the use of mamoth tooth, there are a few specifics to using it and you will need to do your homework. I'm sure a seasoned maker will shime in and offer some good advice of point you to some literature to read on its use.

JSM ,
The mammoth tooth is beautiful but fragile. I don't recommend it for an EDC. If you are going to use it , the 1st thing to do is coat it completely with thin superglue . Next , epoxy vulcanized paper to back side. This will give it more striength & decrease breakage. Work only with new belts & bits . Keep your superglue handy & if any breaks occur along cleavage lines , reglue . Hope this helps !

Charles Turnage has some fine mammoth tooth and is always a real pleasure to deal with. He also is a wealth of information about working with and finishing these types of materials.

Check him out here - http://www.fineturnage.com/knife_handle_scales.php

I have spoken with him several times at various Hammer-Ins and Knife Shows. I bet he can get you set.

Thank you for the recomendation. I had actually found his site searching a few days ago and had been eying it every since. I just ordered two sets from him. It seems to be some very beautiful stuff, and as you said they were very knowledgeable about it. They also recomended some other stuff and I was able to get a wealth of imformation.
